THE NEW YORK TIMES (USA) One of Australia’s most dynamic and internationally recognized contemporary dance companies, Expressions Dance Company, is touring a double-act of innovative and energized dance throughout Queensland this October.   Presented by Queensland Arts Council’s Ontour onstage and Expressions Dance Company, this mesmerizing double bill performance comprising Jigsaw, created by one of Queensland’s most talented choreographers Natalie Weir, and Fragments of Memory created by international choreographer and former dancer with the world renowned Cloud Gate Dance Company, Cheng Tsung Lung.   Brisbane’s The Courier-Mail raved about the performance printing: Dance is such an ephemeral art form, yet it has the power to create lasting imprints in our minds.  That capacity is demonstrated in the aptly titled double bill from Expressions. The result is rewarding for both the audience and the dancers.   The Company’s outstanding mix of dance, theatre and music received an exceptional response from audiences and critics when it performed in New York and China, with Backstage - New York quoting, “An evening of remarkable ingenuity… a dazzling tour de force.”   The first half of the show, Jigsaw, explores how certain phobias including claustrophobia, the fear of venturing outside, the fear of being noticed and the fear of intimacy, can affect our personal relationships.   Fragments of Memory is a dynamic, contemporary, physically powerful piece of dance driven by pulsing undercurrents of emotions.   The tour is assisted by Arts Regional Touring Service (ARTS), a Queensland Government initiative.   To discover more about the tour visit Queensland Arts Council’s website at www.qac.org.au or Expressions Dance Company’s website at www.expressions.org.au.   High Schools and Dance Schools take note: Company members will conduct free workshops and classes in each town to be visited.
