Queensland Arts Council in association with Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University presents The Gertrude Langer Ensemble 2008 >> Click here to hear a track Yukai String Quartet Quartet Op. 33 "The Bird" mp3 Composed by Joseph Haydn The award-winning Yukai String Quartet perform a spirited and energetic balance of Haydn, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky alongside The Beatles, David Bowie and John Williams’ inspiring Schindler’s List theme song closing the gap between classical and pop music. The quartet are the 2008 winners of the Gertrude Langer Ensemble Award, Queensland Arts Council’s esteemed accolade which every year sends one of Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University’s most talented ensembles on their debut Queensland tour. Queensland Arts Council again welcomes an additional element to the Award - the involvement of 4MBS to undertake the recording of a CD of the winning ensemble’s performance program. The award is dedicated to the memory of Dr Gertrude Langer, founder of Queensland Arts Council and forceful advocate of arts access statewide.     Yukai String Quartet This Ontour onstage production is eligible for the Travel Assistance Rebate Scheme (TARS).
