Arthur Frame AM, with nearly forty years experience, has accomplished much for the Arts in Queensland and regional Australia. A published playwright, he has held numerous positions including - Artistic Director of Queensland's Gallery Theatre, Associate Director of Queensland Theatre Company and Director of Queensland Youth Theatre.
Arthur has worked on over 140 professional productions as an actor, Director, Executive Production Manager or playwright. He first joined Queensland Arts Council in 1986 to manage Ontour inschools, the world's largest performances for schools program, for eleven years and was also Deputy General Manager for seven of those years.
In 1997 he joined Arts Queensland, the State's arts funding, advocacy and advisory body, as Executive Manager of the Cultural Delivery Unit responsible for an annual arts funding budget of over $20 million.
In 1999, Arthur was appointed Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Arts Council where he has implemented a regeneration of the company overseeing, in particular, the incorporation of over 60 Queensland Arts Council Branches as Local Arts Councils. He is a strong advocate for the culturally led revitalisation of regional communities and has implemented a number of nationally significant regional arts engagment programs and services.
Arthur serves on the Board of Regional Arts Australia (RAA) and the Board of Arts Services Australia Pty Ltd (ASAP). He sits as a Panel Member for the categories of Regional Touring and Children Theatre for the Helpman Awards and on the Festival Australia Committee for the Commonwealth Government.
He is an inaugural Fellow of the Australian Institute of Arts Management (FAIAM) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (FAIM), a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and a member of the Australian Society of Association Executives (MAUSAE). In 2003 Arthur was awarded the Centenary of Federation Medal for distinguished service to the Arts.
Arthur Frame was made an Member of Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2008.
