Nabarlek
The garage band that never had a garage!

 

 

 

 

With music described as a riot of ska, reggae and the best of bar-room rock* Nabarlek is a blistering live band from Western Arnhemland.  Winners of the NT Band of the Year (2005), this nine-piece Indigenous band arrange their traditional songs and stories into Rock 'n' Roll format.  With magic in their voices, they sing both in tribal language and English. 

Their style is known as "Indigenous Roots" and is influenced by rock, reggae, country and gospel.

It all started with a couple of battered acoustic guitars and flour tin drums.  Twenty years on, Nabarlek have released three CDs and toured to Germany and throughout Australia. Nabarlek's music strengthens traditional culture through its appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds. 

Nabarlek contine to amaze critics and gain new fans at every performance.  You too will be captivated by their enthusiam and energy!
